Operations Assistant

  • Location : Boone, North Carolina

  • Full Time | 40 Hours

  • Reports to the Director of Operations

  • $15-16 per hour

 

            The Hunger and Health Coalition (HHC) is seeking an Operations Assistant to join our growing team.

 

General Definition of Work

 

This position is full time, based here in Boone, North Carolina with hours ranging from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Operations Assistant is responsible for ensuring the day to day operations of the organization are running accordingly. This role is vital to our mission of ensuring fresh healthy foods are placed into the hands who need it most. The ideal candidate will be self motivated, passionate, energetic, highly organized and has a passion for helping their community become a more equitable place for all. 

 

As the largest food pantry in Watauga County, Hunger and Health Coalition has been a local resource for thousands of families in need for nearly 40 years. As a free pharmacy, food pantry, as well as a safety net of resources, our operations are both extensive and fast paced. Our team is inclusive and passionate about helping our neighbors in need. We hope you will join our mission as our Operations Assistant.

 

Responsibilities

  • Help to stock shelves in the Fresh Market.

  • Help to do client intake and provide a client's food to their vehicle. Assist clients if/when they are able to return into the building.

  • Ensure quality service to our vulnerable populations.

  • Aid in any deliveries or unpacking of any goods.

  • Liaison between all the departments including the pharmacy.

  • Help to answer phone calls and direct clients, volunteers or donors to the correct department.

  • Package any food or help with any meal preparation in the Food Recovery Kitchen.

  • Working well with a team to provide quality service to dozens of clients per day.

  • Broad cleaning duties including sweeping, emptying trash, mop, dust, and other cleaning as asked by supervisor.

  • Harvesting plants and produce from our garden.

  • Provide computer coverage as needed for breaks and time off.

  • Maintain a clean work space at all times.

  • Maintain and submit a timesheet in a timely manner.

  • Communicate with other staff and contribute to good employee relations.

  • Help with driving a sprinter van as needed.

  • Able to lift boxes of food that may weigh as much as 50 pounds.

  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.

  • Attend training and seminars as needed.

  • Complete other task and projects as directed by supervisor.

  • Some heavy lifting required.

  • Some outside work during normal business hours may occur.

 

 

Education and Experience

 

  • 2 years of Customer Service experience required
