The Hunger and Health Coalition (HHC) is seeking a Grant Writer to join our growing team.

General Definition of Work

This position is full time, based here in Boone, North Carolina with hours ranging from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This role is part of Hunger and Health Coalition’s development team, responsible for securing funding necessary to operate the organization’s charitable food and pharmacy assistance programs. The ideal candidate will be self motivated, passionate, energetic, highly organized and has a passion for helping their community become a more equitable place for all. 

For 40 years, Hunger and Health Coalition has served the High Country’s most vulnerable community members, and seeks a skilled, friendly team member to help develop our important role in the community’s safety net.

 

Previous grant writing experience a plus but not required. As part of the interview process we may ask for writing samples of your work.

 

Duties

  • Complete annual grant applications to over 30 funding sources to secure funding for existing and new Hunger and Health Coalition programs.

  • Work with Director of Strategic Initiatives to track grant project impact data to report to funders.

  • Complete grant attachments including program budgets, evaluation plans, and other items required by funders.

  • Maintain records of grant submission dates and materials to keep the organization’s grants calendar up-to-date.

  • Communicate with program officers from local, regional, and national funding partners to ensure good relationships and program mission alignment.

  • Support other staff at fundraisers and other events.

  • Strong ability to meet overlapping writing and submission deadlines throughout the year.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Google Drive

Education and Experience

  • Must have graduated from a 4 year degree.

  • At least 2+ years of experience writing grants.
