Our food service options offer our clients healthy, robust foods to help supplement their lives. Please read carefully below about our three different food services offered by the Hunger and Health Coalition and when clients are eligible for each service.

FRESH FOOD PANTRY MARKET 

HOW IT WORKS

The Food Pantry is stocked from purchases from the Second Harvest Food Bank of NorthWest NC and donations from community members.

Families can receive a box of food every 14 days. 

WHAT'S PROVIDED

Box items vary depending on the types of foods that been donated, but a typical box might contain a mix of canned fruits, canned vegetables, tomato products, soups, canned proteins (such as tuna or chicken), frozen meat, dairy, carbohydrates (such as pasta or rice) and breakfast items.

FOOD RECOVERY KITCHEN

HOW IT WORKS

WHAT'S PROVIDED

The Food Recovery Kitchen is stocked with donations from local grocery stores, bakeries, local grocery stores, bakeries, local area restaraunts, Appalachian State University and donations from community members

With each scheduled visit, families can recieve a sandwhich/ soup combination or a to-go meal for each member of their family. 

The food recovery kitchen provided nutritious to go meals items will vary depending on time of day (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and on what has been donated for that week. We make every effort to provide tasty, nutritious meals that clients can take home with them.

FOOD PANTRY
 

HOW IT WORKS

Our pantry is stocked with non perishable items that will benefit families and individuals for longer periods of time. Donations range from community members, restaurant and local grocery stores. We also purchase from Second Harvest Food Bank to keep our shelves stocked.

 

 

Each individual is eligible for a pantry box every 14 days. These boxes usually weigh between 35 to 40 pounds. Boxes consist of non perishable items including but not limited to canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta, breakfast items, tomato sauces and various types of snack items. On certain days meat, eggs and milk are also available in a pantry box.
