Changes to HHC food distribution
Due to an abundance of caution, we are converting our operations to a drive-thru model.
All traffic will be directed to the back of the building. Please remain in your vehicle and a staff member will take your name and bring your food items to your vehicle.
Changes to HHC Pharmacy
If you require medication, please remain in your vehicle. A staff member will take your name and retrieve your medication. For pharmacy refills: Please call in prescription numbers only, or names of medications. Please note: If you have refills available you will be able to get a 60 days supply of your maintenance medications only.
HHC event Cancellations
Empty Bowls- The March 28 event has been canceled.
A Simple Gesture Pick Up - The April 4 pick up has been postponed. We will post updates on a new pick up date when possible.
Watauga County Schools establishes feeding sites across county
Beginning Tuesday, March 17, Watauga County Schools will operate five feeding sites across the county. parents from any school may pick up take-out meals at at of the designated sites in a drive through line.
Lunch and a packed breakfast for the next day will be served at Bethel, Mabel and Green Valley schools from 11 am to 1 pm each of the days that schools are closed for students
Dinner and breakfast for the next day will be served at Hardin Park School and Brushy Fork Baptist Church, located at 3915 Highway 421 North in Vilas, from 4 pm to 6 pm each of the days school is closed for students.
All children under the age of 18 may get free meals at these sites regardless of where they live or attend school in Watauga County. Meals will be similar to what students receive from a normal school lunch/breakfast and will include items like sandwiches, vegetables and salads along with milk, fruit and juice.
If families are unable to make use of any of the established feeding sites and are in need of food, please contact your school's main office and ask for more information.
Other community meal sites
The Public House in Blowing Rock is doing free breakfast for all children Monday - Friday 8am - 11 am. Food can be taken to-go.
FARM Cafe in downtown Boone is providing "Grab and Go Meals" for anyone - adults or children. Open 11 am to 2 pm.
Thompson's Seafood will be offering $1.95 meals for children 14 and under for the next two weeks Tuesday - Saturday
McDonald's is offering a free small fry and cheeseburger if the child is in the drive thru with driver and they tell the attendant which school they go to.

Boone United Methodist Church
To-go meals. Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm.

Hot lunch. To-go boxes. Wednesdays and Thursdays 11 am - 1pm. Can come every day.
Food Pantry. Thursdays, 10:30 am - 3 pm. Drive-thru. Families can get food boxes twice a month.

Hunger and Health Coalition
Monday thru Friday 8:30 to 4:30 pm. Curb-side services
Fresh produce, to go meals, non-perishable once a week. Families can get food boxes twice a month.
Meals served three times a day (6:30-8:30 am, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, 5:30-6:30 pm)
Food pantry is open 7 days a week (9 am - 11 am and 1 pm - 4 pm). May pick up twice a month.
