The Hunger and Health Coalition
Providing Food and Pharmacy Assistance to the High Country of |
A lack of access to adequate food and nutrition is a prevalent problem in our community. Though sometimes hidden, hundreds of families struggle to put food on the table every month. Often, adults in the home skip meals, reduce the amount of food eaten, or settle for foods that are filling but have little or no nutritious value. Rising food and fuel prices have made this struggle a reality for a growing number of families in our area. The Hunger and Health Coalition is proud to offer a variety of food assistance programs to those in need to help them survive the crisis and find a better way.
Sharing Tree Programs: A Holiday TraditionEvery year, the Hunger & Health Coalition's Sharing Tree Program helps hundreds of local families have a happier holiday.
Local families sign up for the program, listing the needs of their children. Families in the community "adopt" the family for the holidays. The adopting family purchases the items on each child's wish list and then delivers the gifts, as well as food for a holiday meal, to the family's home. Helping a local family could not be easier - 1) Select a family - call or stop by the Hunger & Health Coalition to select a family 2) Go Shopping - purchase items on the children's wish list 3) Make a delivery - deliver your gifts and groceries to the family This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
